Here's the series of photos by Tara Stephenson. They were actually taken back in February, in Manzini, Swaziland. Here's what she wrote to describe the event in which these pictures were taken:
"One weekend in Manzini, Swaziland.  Thirty women.  Best three days of the race.  AIM founder, Seth Barnes, has always had a heart for the broken in Swaziland.  He had a vision of the women being put into an enviroment that would allow them to share their life stories and mourn with one another...
The women in Swazi are taught to hide.  To let their life and hardships be buried.  To go unexposed.  A small team of eight girls put together a womens conference called "Beauty from Ashes."  We set up meals, team shirts, speakers, worship, a program, but GOD did the rest.  He took women out of their pain into a place of freedom and restoration.  This was the best weekend I could have ever been a part of and seen."

Swaziland - March 2009 - "Our first day here we met Du-du. She is dying of AIDS and literally wasting away. She is skin and bones now and in her final days. She is leaving behind a 7 month old baby and a 7 year old little girl... When we went into her bedroom to pray for her the Spirit of fear was overwhelming. She is scared of death, she is scared of what will happen to her babies, she is filled with fear completely. The next day my teammates Sara and Natalie went with her and Pastor Gift to the hospital. They held her hand for hours and tried to ease the fears that were consuming her. Death is coming and she cannot stop it, she can only change the way she will receive it. I pray Du-du finds peace before she passes." - photo by Amy McAllister

Swaziland - March 2009 - "Her name is Zotwa. She is 18 years old. She lives alone in hut. All of her family is dead. She feels alone in this world. The only way she can provide for herself is to prostitute herself, so she does. She puts on her nicest dress she has and walks to the military barracks down the road to find some work for the night. She has a little hunchback because she is literally so weighed down in life it is now taking a toll on her body. I look into her eyes and see a searching spirit, searching for something that will save her and bring her peace. Zotwa is searching and the only thing that will rescue her is the Lord... We are praying Zotwa finds freedom..." - photo by Amy McAllister

Malawi - February 2009 - (received March '09) - "Nkhota Kota has it's very own rasta population. They are the local souvenir salesmen with a variety of merchandise... earrings, bracelets, key chains, chairs, paintings, etc. Most say they are a little to eager, some say they even hound, I like to simply say they are persistent. Whichever way you put it be warned that once you've met them you won't be left alone until you leave town. Maybe it's because of our similar hairstyles, but I actually enjoyed spending time with them." - photo from Shanda Dodd

They have recently build a church that serves near 150 members." - photo by Natalie Montgomery

Myanmar - November 2008 - "My teammate Zach was a big hit with the children. He was a magic, living toy. I loved watching him come alive with the children. He has a heart of gold. Sometimes I would just look over at him and just feel the passion that he felt for these parent-less children. One thing I did learn in Myanmar is that the people don't hug. But, if you hug any one of the kids, just one time, they keep coming to you wanting to be held." - photo by Natalie Montgomery

Myanmar - November 2008 - "The people of the villages followed us everywhere. People stared at us like we were aliens, and to them we were. Many of the people had never seen white skin before. We really scared the little ones. Some of the kids would cry and run into their homes. Few people are even educated enough to have ever heard the name Jesus." - photo by Natalie Montgomery
